Burton Fisher, White Buffalo Stands

White Buffalo Stands, Hodawanes, is a 7th generation singer for his Northern Cheyenne tribe. From the time he was a child spirit, White Buffalo Stands was taught the importance of song as an expression of reverence and deep gratitude for life.

“My name is Burton Fisher Jr., White Buffalo Stands, a full blood Northern Cheyenne tribal member. I am a hereditary chief, a Sud’da Fasting Priest, horse trainer. I come from a long line of singers from both my Dad’s, Mom’s path in life. I believe song is healing, expression of prayer, this for healing of Grandma Earth, ourselves. A song for every part, phase of life until we return back to the Milky Way.”

“Listening to the prayer songs of White Buffalo Stands evokes something very ancient and deep within me that eludes definition. Some might call it the Great Spirit, others, God. I know it simply as a Higher Power. It is the universal truth which is known, but can’t be spoken. But now I know it can be sung.”
