Davia is a young singer/songwriter from the mountains of Northern California. “Mesmerizing” is a term that seems to come up every time she plays live – her songs, completely original, are quirky but accessible, hopeful yet intense.

In her debut EP, Hush, Davia delivers six emotionally captivating songs experimenting with guitar, accordion, egg crates and breaking bottles to tell familiar stories in a unique and edgy way.

Beginning with his debut album, On the Hallelujah Side, Aaron Ross displayed a facility for Americana-based musical forms and rambling lyrics that tended toward double-entendre and allegory. The apocalyptic wit of Bob Dylan and biblical gravity of William Faulkner are equally valid lyrical touchstones. When he sings the song “Jack Kerouac” from the 2006 album Beginner’s Blood, it’s easy to see how the writer’s concept of “free prose” influenced Ross’ freewheeling lyrics.

While his early work was inspired by dark, redemptive tales like the film There Will Be Blood, his 2008 album Shapeshifter revealed a lighter side of his personality.

Entering his late 20s and discovering the peace of raising a family, Ross felt the drive to project more positive imagery. “Once you reach 25 and you’re still alive, you’re not as angst-ridden,” he says of the time. This new-found levity gave him the leeway to experiment with different lyrical and musical forms.

While much of Ross’ music focuses on the mythical America, with it’s broken dreams, bucolic family moments, and unprecedented military power-there is a sly thread of humor running through his work that’s often underestimated. Song titles like “The Beast Of Both Worlds,” “Enemy Of The State Of Mind” and “In Through The Out Of Order Door” hint at a playfulness that’s often lacking among modern songwriters.

With a poet’s penchant for wordplay and a wide-eyed attitude toward music production, Aaron Ross has earned his place as one of Nevada County’s most gifted musicians and songwriters.

Brian Hartman is considered one of the leaders in the underground West Coast music scene both as a DJ & event producer.  Brian’s refined & versatile sound ranges from sweet dub cumbia, to midtempo, organic world beats filled with Latin rhythms & African chants to the heartbeat of deep, dubby, ethno house, to finely selected hip hop, reggae, & dancehall.

He, along with longtime friend & ally Isis Indriya, coproduce HeartBass, a monthly event that has a reputation as one of the most high-vibed underground dance parties on the west coast.

The year 2016 saw Brian playing a wide variety of gigs from Envision in Costa Rica to the Dead & Co afterparties in San Francisco, to the Gravity Productions events in Aspen, CO, to international ecstatic dance events & yoga retreats, to a full lineup of festivals including Symbiosis, Lightning in a Bottle, Enchanted Forest, Lucidity, Raindance, Northern Nights, and California Worldfest amongst others.

Brian was an award-winning 7th & 8th grade World Studies & Language Arts teacher at the distinguished Nevada City School of the Arts before retiring from teaching to focus on music full time.

Born in the rural countryside near Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, Joan Soriano infuses steel string bachata with equal parts romance and grit. He is the star of Adam Taub’s, The Duke of Bachata, was featured in Alex Wolfe’s critically acclaimed documentary, Santo Domingo Blues, and is on The Rough Guide’s Bachata compilation.

Bachata is essential to Dominican culture and draws upon a variety of influences from Africa, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean. A practitioner of palo and gaga, Joan Soriano blends Afro­-Dominican sacred traditions with bachata, imparting his music with down to earth spirit and dance­ability. Joan preserves bachata’s roots and expands on them. He is a rare combination of new and authentic.

Soriano is the seventh of fifteen siblings. At an early age he had to forgo schooling to help his father in the fields, but his destiny was for music not agriculture. As a young boy, he made his first guitar from a discarded metal box and a fishing line and formed a band with his brothers and sisters. Later he moved to Santo Domingo and nurtured his talent working alongside some of the Dominican Republic’s greatest bachata musicians.

Soriano’s artistry preserves and expands on the Dominican musical tradition. He is the rare combination of new and authentic.

Joan has toured the United States and Europe as the head of his family band, “La Familia Soriano”, which includes brother Fernando, and sister Griselda Soriano.

Los Hermanos Arango hail from Guanabacoa, a municipality in Cuba characterized by a high level of musical and afro-religious tradition. The group was created in 2003 by world-renown bassist Feliciano Arango  (Emiliano Salvador, NG la Banda, Maraca, etc.) and his siblings, percussionist Eugenio, guitarist Ignacio, and vocalist Cristina.

The Arango family brings more than 30 years of combined touring experience performing Cuban music and jazz of the highest caliber around the globe. Los Hermanos Arango offers a diverse palette of authentic afro-folkloric rhythms and chants merged with intricate, yet accessible jazz.

Many Americans were introduced to Inuit music watching the Canadian epic The Fast Runner, but for more than a decade Pamyua has released traditional Inuit (Yup’ik) Drumsongs from Alaska with a distinct and unique American sound.

Because some of their music is a combination or Yup’ik lyrics combined with a modern sound, they are popular with the youth culture as well, as reflected in some of the videos on their website. Pamyua’s music was featured on the Discovery Channel’s Flying Wild Alaska and in numerous films. From Queen Margrethe II of Denmark to Secretary of State John Kerry, the group has entertained thousands with their fusion of traditional Inuit music and Yup’ik dance performance.

In September 2015, they appeared at the Western Arts Alliance Four Nations Indigenous Performance Showcase in Vancouver, BC Canada.

Founding members Phillip Blanchett, Stephen Blanchett and Ossie Kairaiuak are from the Yukon/ Kuskokwim River Delta region in southwestern Alaska. Karina Moeller also a founding member is from Nuuk, Greenland and is currently residing in Denmark.

The story goes that the young Australian singer, songwriter and one-of-a-kind guitar virtuoso first picked up his instrument of choice as a five-year-old following in the footsteps of a musical father. He began writing songs at 12, training classically throughout his teens and performing solo wherever he could, honing his craft and developing what would become the dynamite live show that he is renowned for today. At 18 he left school, turned professional and hit the road.

The next five years saw him traversing North America, the United Kingdom, Europe, New Zealand and of course, his homeland Australia playing such festivals as Vancouver and Mariposa Folk (Canada), Belgium’s Labadoux Festival and Australia’s Woodford, Falls Festival, Port Fairy Folk Festival and the legendary Byron Bay Bluesfest.

As well as touring and sharing stages with the likes of Lucinda Williams, Judy Collins, INXS, John Butler, KT Tunstall and Ani DiFranco – all of this while writing, producing and independently releasing two EPs, ‘My Own Design’ (2009) and ‘Wide Eyed and Open’ (2010), his first long player ‘Pint of Mystery’ (2011) and the ‘Real Live’ offering in 2012.

As one reviewer recently wrote, “still in his early twenties, the distances he has been would be more frequently associated with veterans of the Folk scene” (The Dwarf). This globetrotting lifestyle would become the centerpiece of Daniel’s next recordings when in 2013, he undertook the ambitious task of delivering two stand-alone albums within the space of twelve months. The Gypsy Moon – Volumes I and II marked a great leap forward for him both as a songwriter and a recording artist, with Australia’s roots music bible Rhythms Magazine saying that ‘Champagne has gone a step further this time, it’s like he’s realized his own potential, his confidence is sky-high and he’s truly ready to explore.’

Now regarded as a leading light in acoustic music, with a firm reputation for making festivals buzz, holding crowds in his palm, dropping jaws and breaking guitars wherever he goes.

Louisiana’s finest, four-time Grammy-Nominated, world-renown Pine Leaf Boys have made a name for presenting their own inimitable brand of Louisiana music with youthful exuberance.

Hailing from the southwest Louisiana, the Pine Leaf Boys, known for their wild shows and thoughtful arrangements, have breathed new life into Louisiana music, reviving ancient songs and bringing them to the bandstand. Being described in the New York Times as, “… the link that connects the young and the old generations,” and, “the best new, energetic, and fun Cajun band in a very long time,” the Pine Leaf Boys play the old fashion dance hall standards while making a priority to bring many of the more obscure songs of past masters into their repertoire and play them with gusto.

The Pine Leaf Boys have been invited on six occassions by the U.S. State Department to tour the world and present true music to Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Jerusalem in 2009 and again to Latvia, Denmark, and Slovenia is 2010 and a third time to the “Stan” countries in 2012 (Uzbek, Tajik, and Kyrgz).

The variety and energy they release evolves through their shows, bringing multi-faceted angles to Cajun, Creole, and Zydeco. Their mission is to present the beautiful, powerful music of their ancestors and present the real Cajun music to the world and prove that it is still thriving and full of life. The Pine Leaf Boys have preserved the traditional Cajun sound, while allowing it to breathe and stretch with those who play it. Passionate and colorful at the same time, Betsayda Machado is one of the most representative singers in Venezuelan music today. Her mastery on several Afro-Caribbean rhythms and the strength of her voice have made her share the stage with the biggest stars in Venezuela, bringing traditional elements to their music. To understand where her magical voice comes from it’s necessary to travel to a little village named El Clavo, in Barlovento, known to be the most important community of African descent in Venezuela.

Within the village, Parranda El Clavo is the epicenter of it all; a band of musicians and dancers of all ages, known for igniting local parties as they take street celebrations into the neighbors’ houses, finally bringing all the town members to the central square. Betsayda grew up singing and playing with them, they are her family, her homeboys, and the perfect company for her first solo tour.

The parranderos have been playing together for thirty years, never to leave town, but now Betsayda Machado & Parranda El Clavo just recorded their first album and they are preparing to sail on an international tour that will ultimately end in Africa, in a search for their roots.
